Art: Digital Painting

This is the next part in my update of old art. Last September I got really into digital painting and practising realistic colours and textures, and did the paintings here. This post is just to share other bits and pieces I did at that time.

Following my other skin tone studies, I started this painting of Moria, my favourite belly dancer. As you can see it's unfinished; the jewelry is so complicated that it would have taken me many more hours. Maybe I'll complete it one day. (Original image is here.)

A quick study of light and skin tone:

Moving on to skies and landscapes:

Some crappy rocks - I was surprised to learn that rocks are WAY harder to paint than skin tones:

And then starting to get the hang of it (but only by making it easier and painting in monochrome):

Quick studies of atmospheric perspective:

One-hour-ish painting for last year's Self Portrait Day (1st Nov):

And finally, last year's Christmas gift for Jordy! The splendid Ben Linus from Lost (original pic here):

Coming next time... a couple of concept art pieces. :)

LOVE the belly dancer pic. I think I'm going to squirrel it away in my "RPG PC Ideas" folder, full of pictures to inspire future characters.
As for Our King Ben Linus... fucking awesome.

Moria is sooooo awesome. :) I also recommend looking up photos of Rachel Brice and Zoe Jakes, they both have amazing style (and are fabulous dancers).
